Can Hoodia Help YOU with Your Weight Loss Efforts?

You can picture yourself thin. You want to feel better and have higher energy levels. Wanting these things and being able to stick with a weight loss plan are two very different things. Failing to stick to a diet and lose weight is very common, but there are ways to help boost your will power and help you lose weight and feel great!

This is where a weight loss supplement such as hoodia may help, but you have to decide if this is the right weight-loss aid for you. To know the answer to that question, you need to understand how hoodia works as a weight loss aid and whether it will address YOUR particular weight loss issues.
Hoodia was first discovered by an anthropologist who was studying the bushmen in South Africa. He noticed that when they went out on long hunts where vegetation was nil, they would chew on the stem of a cactus (hoodia gordonii). He realized that they did this in order to stave off hunger.
We now know why hoodia gordonii is such an effective appetite suppressant. A molecule in hoodia called p57 mimics glucose. Low glucose levels in your body trigger your brain to send out hunger signals in order to replenish energy in your body. This molecule, p57, in hoodia gordonii makes the brain think that you have plenty of glucose so that it does not trigger hunger.
In other words, hoodia is an appetite suppressant. If you have been unable to stick with a stricter diet in order to lose weight because you feel hungry while on the diet, then hoodia may help you control your appetite. If you are an emotional eater and eat even when you are not hungry, hoodia may help give you that edge you need to get through a craving without indulging and achieve the slender figure you desire!
When you gained weight, you may have done so because you were overeating or eating the wrong foods. Your brain became accustomed to larger quantities of food and over time, your brain began signaling hunger in response to higher blood glucose levels.
You actually altered hunger signaling in your body. Diets high in sugar cause a premature signaling system in which the brain requests more food because it became used to receiving higher than normal quantities of glucose. Overeating does the same thing. Hoodia’s appetite suppressant capability can help you eat less, fight cravings and return your hunger levels to normal!
There are no side effects with hoodia. Caffeine or other stimulants used in traditional weight loss aids often cause a jittery feeling, but hoodia does not seem to produce this same effect. Because diabetics rely on steady glucose levels for managing their disease, they should not take hoodia. As well, pregnant or nursing mothers should not take hoodia (or any other weight loss supplement).
